Ernest Percival Rhys, born in Islington in north London, was a Welsh-English writer and editor, best known for his role as founding editor of the Everyman's Library series of affordable classics. When Rhys died in London on 25 May 1946, 983 Everyman titles had been produced. He wrote essays, stories, poetry, novels and plays.
